St Cuthbert’s RotaKids
St Cuthbert’s Rota Kids Club allows children from all year groups to help others in our city. As an extra-curricular club, they support local charities and the community by organising different events to raise money for those who need it most.
Some of the events they’ve organised include:
- Ukraine Cake Sale
- Brakes Kids Walk – to raise money for the Brake charity (Road Safety)
- Lent / Easter fundraising – supporting events to raise money for Good Shepherd & PTA
- Christmas Craft Fayre – to raise money for Zoe’s Place
- Cake sales
- An Hour For Others – raising money to help this charity’s great work in our city
- Collecting recycled clothing
- Collecting groceries – for local foodbank; for Missionaries of Charity (Seel St Sisters).
St Cuthbert’s Rota Kids Club work alongside the Liverpool West Derby Rotary Club, who have matched money raised, from many of the fundraising events undertaken. Members of the club enjoy visiting school to see what new ideas the club have, what events they have in place and to share what they have been organising too.
Our Rota Kids Club has members from Year 4 – 6. They create imaginative ideas in order to raise money and work together, to make them happen. Rota Kids make posters advertising events, send out letters to parents / children and inform the local community about what they are doing. They also have to think critically about pricing e.g. for cake sales. The members need to be confident collecting money, giving the correct change and counting money carefully, after fundraising events are completed. This is an important aspect of the club, as Rota Kids need to inform West Derby Rotary Club and other local charities about their fundraising efforts and achievements.
Ukraine Fundraiser (March 2021)
St. Cuthbert’s joined schools from all around the globe in the AMASING event. We sang ‘Lean on Me’ and dedicated it to our brothers and sisters in the Ukraine. Following this event, the RotaKids have been working hard to plan an event to help support the people of the Ukraine. They prepared and planned a cake sale to raise money to support those people who are in need of our help at this difficult time.
“Let the weapons fall silent,” he said. “God is with those who seek peace, not those resorting to violence.” Pope Francis
Christmas Craft Fayre (December 2021)
Funny Hat Day (July 2019)
On 12th July 2019, St Cuthbert’s took part in a fundraising event called âFunny Hat Dayâ to raise money for Claire House. The children (and teachers) wore a âfunny hatâ to help celebrate the year of Claireâs 40th birthday.
We supported this local hospice by asking for voluntary donations to raise as much money for Claire House as possible. Hats worn were handmade, personalised and impressive! Thank you to everyone for their generosity and for wearing such fabulous hats.
Brake Kids Walk (June 2019)
On 26th June 2019, Brakeâs Kids Walk took place. The walk was co-ordinated by Brake, the road safety charity, to promote road safety as well as the health and planet-saving benefits of walking.
Brake’s Kids Walk was a great way to inspire and engage children about the dangers they face on roads and raise awareness among parents and the wider community about the need to protect children on roads. It was also a great opportunity to fundraise for the Brake Charity and support families who have lost loved ones in road crashes.
Christmas Craft Fayre (December 2019)
Our RotaKids worked hard to organise a Christmas Craft Fayre in order to raise money for Nugent Care. They involved every class by asking them to make items to sell at the fayre. There were lots of enterprising ideas – Christmas cards and decorations, reindeer food, raffles to name a few! We invited all of the school community to join us for an afternoon of browsing, carols and mince pies. What a way to get into the Christmas spirit.
