What is Extended School?
Extended School is the collective term we use for the ‘out of school hours’ clubs that provide support by offering affordable childcare all year round.
These clubs include:
- Breakfast Club
- After School Club

St Cuthbert’s Breakfast Club is an important part of the support we offer to our families, particularly those with work commitments or who are accessing training. It provides a calm, structured and nurturing start to the day, ensuring children arrive in school feeling settled, ready to learn and able to fully engage with the curriculum. A healthy breakfast plays a vital role in supporting childrenâs concentration, memory and overall wellbeing â all essential for successful learning.
Children are offered a choice of cereals, bagels, toast, fruit juices, milk and water. Our approach reflects the schoolâs commitment to promoting healthy choices and developing independence. Once breakfast is finished, children can access a range of purposeful activities including art, Lego and board games, supporting social development, creativity and positive relationships. When weather permits, children also enjoy supervised outdoor activities in the courtyard or play area, helping them to be active and energised before lessons begin.
Breakfast Club is fully aligned with our safeguarding culture and the revised Ofsted Framework. Staff ensure that routines are safe, inclusive and supportive, and that every child feels welcomed and cared for. The provision contributes to pupilsâ wider personal development, helping them build confidence, resilience and readiness for the school day.
Our Breakfast Club reflects the values at the heart of St Cuthbertâs: nurturing the whole child, supporting families and ensuring every pupil begins the day with positivity, security and a sense of belonging.

Breakfast Club requires a booking. Unfortunately, you will be charged if you do not cancel your booking 24 hours in advance of the scheduled booking.
