School Music Development Plan
Music plays a vibrant and valued role at St Cuthbertâs Catholic Primary School. It is a universal language that enables our pupils to express themselves as composers, performers, improvisers and communicators. Our curriculum is designed to inspire a lifelong love of music while developing a rich, subjectâspecific skill set through the interrelated dimensions of musical learning. Through carefully planned experiences, pupils explore how music connects with history, art, technology and culture, strengthening both our global and local curriculum themes. We ensure children encounter a diverse range of influential musicians and composers, past and present, and learn to listen, appraise and respond with confidence and appreciation. At St Cuthbertâs, we believe music belongs to every child, and we are committed to ensuring all pupils, regardless of ability, can participate, achieve and shine.
Our musical opportunities, whether through curriculum lessons, instrumental tuition, wholeâschool singing or extraâcurricular activities, nurture pupilsâ creativity, confidence and joy. Most importantly, they teach our children to use their voices, work together and celebrate their unique, Godâgiven talents as part of our inclusive, faithâfilled community.
