“I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go.” – Psalm 32:8
RED: To Know You More Clearly
The new Religious Education Directory ‘To Know You More Clearly’ was shared in February 2023. St. Cuthbert’s have implemented this on a rolling programme from Early Years – Year 3, working closely alongside the Archdiocese for guidance and support.
The model curriculum aims to draw pupils into an encounter with a story, the story of God’s relationship with humanity. It creates the opportunity for religious education to be as rich in knowledge as any other curriculum subject while offering the life-transforming possibilities of biblical wisdom.
Pupils are taught through six branches throughout the academic year:
Branch 1: Creation and Covenant
Branch 2: Prophecy and Promise
Branch 3: Galilee to Jerusalem
Branch 4: Desert to Garden
Branch 5: To the Ends of the Earth
Branch 6: Dialogue and Encounter
Come and See
Come and See is a Catholic Primary Religious Education programme, written by a group of experienced diocesan advisors and continues to be delivered in Year 4 – 6. The child friendly material provided within Come and See allows children to explore the teachings of the Catholic church through the use of age appropriate resources and activities.
Each year group have their own list of focus topics to consider throughout the academic year. The topic will coincide with the church calendar however, the depth in which the topic is explored is dependent upon the respective age of the child. At the heart of the programme is the mystery of God’s self-revelation of love through Jesus Christ. Come and See gives pupils the opportunity to explore the mystery of faith through Scripture and Tradition.
