“We are stewards, not masters of our earth. Each of us has a personal responsibility to care for the precious gift of God’s creation.” – Pope Francis
St. Cuthbert’s are proud to share that we are now a Live Simply school. We embarked upon our journey, involving our whole school community and thoroughly enjoyed the inspirational experience.
“God owns our Earth – please take care of it.” – Deuteronomy 10:14
Our Live Simply Plan was dedicated to exploring the various ways we can, ‘live simply, live sustainably and live in solidarity with the poor’. CAFOD Live Simply has enabled us to think collectively as a school and community of how we can contribute in different ways. Through whole class projects and our extra-curricular clubs (Rotary Club, Eco School, Gardening Club and Collective Worship Committee) we have forged new relationships and appreciated giving back in so many ways.
Rod Thick, our CAFOD Live Simply Award Assessor, shared, “the pupils and staff have truly embraced living simply, sustainably and in solidarity with people locally and around the world. Their inspired actions will make a real difference to the lives of others in the school, the local community, and our global neighbours”.
