Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the Remote Learning section of our website.
Statement of School Intent
At the Federation of St Cuthbert’s & St Sebastian’s Catholic Primary Schools, we have always striven to be creative, innovative and supportive to everyone in our school community, in the best way possible, to make learning purposeful and holistic. We aim to provide a language rich – reading rich curriculum, knowledge based and ambitious in its content for all learners. It is important that all our pupils’ progress well in the basic skills of reading, writing, grammar and number so that all may access a full curriculum. It is pivotal that the implementation of remote learning supports and continues this. In the event of a school/bubble closure, we are committed to providing a continuity of education through our systems of remote learning. Extensive remote learning would apply particularly in a situation in which school is closed for an extended period of time, but a high proportion of pupils are healthy and able to work as normal at home.
Our teachers have designed Remote Learning to be closely aligned to in-school provision, with access to resources that provide both teaching, as well as learning for your child.
A pdf overview of the week will posted regularly, with hyperlinked materials. This will be available on our website and will be sent via dojo.
Please continue to access your dojo account to keep in contact with your child’s teacher, if you have any queries regarding homework and activities set.
What to do if you do not have access to remote Learning via smartphone, tablet or PC/laptop?
A smartphone should be adequate to access Remote Learning materials. If you do not have digital means, you will need to arrange for someone who is not isolating, to collect paper materials, via the school office. Please ring the office prior to coming to school, and we will present the homework materials at the school gate.
Completed materials should be returned to school with your child, when the isolation period is up and these will be quarantined for a few days before your class teacher reviews the completed work.
Available Materials and Information to inform and support you in helping your child access Remote Learning:
- Remote Learning Policy
- Digital 5 a day (a simple framework for families to guide their use of technology to promote children’s wellbeing and help children use technology responsibly, respectfully and creatively).
- Google Classroom Tutorial (an aid to help you understand and get to know how our learning platform works).
- Weekly plans for your child’s class remote Learning.
On behalf of all in our school community, I would like to thank you for your continued support, especially in the most challenging of times. Together, with our strong partnership, we will continue to support our children and nurture their wellbeing. I look forward to the day when we return to “normal” school life that we all know and love.
Until then, please take care of yourselves and your families.
Kindest regards
Claire Bellis-Knox
